Right off the bat I should say that i’ve never actually seen an AdMob ad on my phone so I don’t know if it’s a useful and unintrusive service from the user perspective, but boy does it seem to be successful considering the news reported on Techcrunch article that Google would acquire AdMob for a whopping $750 million. According to the report, AdMob has some 15′000 publisher partners. That’s an astonishing number for a service that only launched in 2006. It really speaks volumes to how well the AdMob marketing and sales teams must have performed in those 3 years, so congratulations to them. The take-away for us is that the mobile content monetization market is here, it’s real and it’s only going to grow much larger over the next decade so the companies who want to compete in this space better be quick if they want to have any chance at an early mover advantage.
AdMob – a huge success story in mobile advertising
